Our History

The Concerned Citizens of Glasgow, VA was founded in 1998 by a group of dedicated residents who saw the need for a community-focused organization to address local issues and promote civic engagement. What began as informal meetings among neighbors has grown into a respected nonprofit organization that serves as a voice for the Glasgow community.

Over the years, we have successfully advocated for infrastructure improvements, organized community events, and implemented various initiatives to enhance the quality of life in our town. Our membership has grown to include residents from all walks of life, united by a shared commitment to making Glasgow a better place to live, work, and visit.

About Glasgow, Virginia

Glasgow is a small town located in Rockbridge County, Virginia, at the confluence of the James and Maury Rivers. With a population of approximately 1,100 residents, our town offers a close-knit community atmosphere with scenic natural beauty and a rich history.

Founded in 1890, Glasgow has weathered many challenges throughout its history, including devastating floods and economic changes. Despite these challenges, our community has remained resilient, and we continue to work together to build a bright future for our town.

Recent Achievements

Community Park Renovation

Successfully raised funds and coordinated volunteers to renovate the Glasgow Community Park, including new playground equipment, improved landscaping, and accessible pathways.

Recycling Program

Implemented a community-wide recycling program in partnership with local businesses and the county waste management department.

Historic Preservation

Secured grant funding for the restoration of several historic buildings in downtown Glasgow, preserving our town's architectural heritage.
